FAQs - Get answers to most common questions about sugar free sweets
Q. Are these desserts & sweets actually safe for diabetics, or is it just marketing?
A: Yes, it is 100% safe. We come from three generations of diabetics ourselves and an undying love for sweets. That’s how we created Artinci. Our sweets are formulated specifically for diabetics, using only zero-glycaemic index plant based sweeteners like Stevia, monk fruit and more. We never use hidden sugars like jaggery, or honey, which would still cause a blood sugar spike.
Q. Will eating this raise my blood sugar levels?
A: No, if you eat a sweet from us by itself, it should not (nothing before 2 hours or after 2 hours). Blood sugar levels typically rise due to high carbs. All our sweets and cakes are formulated to have <10g net carbs per serving. The plant-based sweeteners we use are not processed by the body as sugar, meaning they have a glycaemic index of zero and do not impact blood glucose or insulin levels. This prevents the "spike and crash" associated with regular sweets.
Q. Is it safe for pregnant women and children?
A: Yes. Sugar free sweeteners are widely recognized as safe for pregnant women and children. They are a much healthier alternative to sugar for managing gestational diabetes and preventing dental cavities in kids.
Q. Is this suitable for a Keto or Low-Carb diet?
A: Absolutely. Many of our sweets are designed to be keto-friendly. For example, our Almond cookies contain <1gg of Net Carbs per piece, making it a perfect fit for a Keto or LCHF (Low-Carb High-Fat) lifestyle.
Q. Can I eat this if I’m trying to lose weight?
A: Yes, Its an excellent choice to indulge in while you are on your weight loss journey. Weight loss diets are typically low in carbs and high in protein so that you are satiated for a long time and are converting fat into energy than deriving them from carbs directly. Our desserts are designed to be low carb, hence while you enjoy your cake you are not putting on extra calories or carbs.
Q. Does 'Sugar-Free' mean it has zero carbohydrates?
A: No, and this is an important distinction. "Sugar-Free" means it has 0g of added sugar. It still contains carbohydrates from the primary ingredients which may have natural sugars as well, like cashews or almonds. However, these are complex carbs and fiber, which are processed differently and are much healthier than sugar.
Q. Does it have a bitter aftertaste or cooling sensation?
A: No, it does not. We have spent years perfecting our proprietary sweetener blend to eliminate the bitter, metallic aftertaste associated with low-quality stevia. Artinci SweetSmart sweetener was developed and customised for each type of desserts so that you can swap your regular sugar desserts with these sweets. Our goal is to deliver an authentic taste and texture that is indistinguishable from the real thing.
Q. Do you use artificial sweeteners like Aspartame or Sucralose?
A: No. We only use plant-based, naturally derived sweeteners. Our products are free from artificial chemicals like Aspartame, Sucralose, and Saccharin, aligning with a clean and transparent ingredient philosophy.
Q. Why is sugar-free mithai more expensive than regular mithai?
A: Because you are paying for premium ingredients, not cheap filler. In regular mithai, up to 50% of the weight is inexpensive sugar. Many mithias are filled with Maida (read the label, yeah!). Our sweets are made primarily with nutrient-dense nuts like cashews and almonds, and real quality which are far more valuable. The cost reflects the superior quality of the ingredients. We do not use Maida or cheap fillers so that you not only get taste but also nutrition in every bite.
Q: Will sugar-free sweets cause bloating or an upset stomach?
A: Not ours! We do not use Maltitol or Sorbitol, which are known to cause bloating. Our Stevia and Erythritol blend is digestive-friendly and light on the stomach. In any case, moderation is good for all foods, so we do advise moderation even if our desserts are guilt-free.
Q: Can I eat sugar-free Kaju Katli while on a weight loss diet (or using GLP-1 medications)?

Q: What is the 'Net Carb' count for Keto followers?
A: One piece of our Sugar-Free Kaju Katli has approximately <1g Net Carbs. It fits perfectly into Keto macros."
Q: Does sugar free sweets actually taste like real sweets like Kaju Katli or laddus?
A: Yes! We’ve spent years perfecting our recipe to ensure the same fudge-like, melt-in-your-mouth texture as traditional Halwai sweets. Most customers can't tell the difference!
Q: Why don't you use dates or jaggery?
A: Dates and jaggery are still 60-70% sugar and will spike blood glucose just like refined sugar. To make our sweets truly diabetic-safe, we use zero-GI Stevia instead. If you must choose, dates are an option but again in moderation. Better is to combine dates with sugar free sweetener to get dual benefits while keeping carbs and calories low.
Q: Is your sweetener 'Natural' or 'Artificial'?
A: We use a 100% plant-based sweetener blend derived from Stevia leaves and Erythritol (found in fruits). We do not use artificial chemicals like Aspartame or Sucralose. Our sweetener science is quite deep, when you see Artinci Sweetsmart, you can buy with confidence as we have done all the hard work so you can sit back and enjoy.
